The french look is a classic style that trascends all seasons, fads, borders and time. It seems to me that french women have a gene that innately tells them how to look alluring without looking like they are trying too hard. It is that stereotypical play on innocence and casualness that looks simply perfect. As they call it, the “Jai ne se quoi”.
As an ode to the recent Paris events I decided to try a version of this look in one of Mexico City´s most french neighbourhoods (architectually speaking). Did you know Mexico once had a “french period”? Porfirio Diaz, one of our ex presidents had a thing for france, it was the epitomy of elegance at the time of his dictatorship (1876-1911). The results are epic buildings like Bellas Artes (the National Theatre) and entire neighborhoods like Roma. This is why one of the main streets, Reforma, resembles the famous Parisian street, Champs Elysees. Today, I wanted a chic and casual look for a saturday stroll around the Mexican Roma Neighbourhood. I thought this would be more than appropiate.
My spin on a weekend look : Classic monochrome stripes, small neck scarf to match, paired with skinny jeans and sneakers. You can make it even more french with crop pants and flats. The best way to look classic yet casual – a look I use very often as my go-to weekend look.
